TUCSON – Catalina Falcons golfer Erin McClure played in the Golf Association (USGA) sectional qualifier in Blaine, Minn. Her 76 on the Victory Links at the National Youth Sports Center was good enough for third place and a qualifying berth in the prestigious USGA Girls’ Junior Championship to be held in Pinehurst, N.C. on July 19-24.
“This is really exciting and I can’t wait to go to North Carolina and be a part of that national championship,” McClure told the USGA. “I’ve been working hard on my game and it’s nice when it all comes together at the right time.”
McClure had a family friend on her bag serving as her caddy.
She’ll be a senior next year and has spent her summer traveling across the country competing in national junior golf tournaments through the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) and the USGA, along with statewide golf tournaments such as the PGA Jr. National Championship qualifier in Scottsdale and the Junior Golf Association of Arizona (JGAA).
The Falcon girls won the 4A-I state championship and look to repeat as they return McClure and the bulk of the roster.
