TUCSON — The Catalina Foothills School District Foundation has announced its new board of directors for the 2010-2011 school year. The board members include President Mark Ziska of Chief People Officer, LLC, Vice President Kris Tvedt of Raytheon Missile Systems, third-term Treasurer Basil E. Horner of Arch Partners LLC, and Secretary Sarah Jeffries Johnson.
The Foundation board is comprised of parents of current and former students. The board’s primary goal is to raise money to fund additional teaching positions to ensure smaller class sizes and specialized teaching positions, as well as an endowment fund that provides funding for specific instructional programs.
Faced with ongoing uncertain state budgetary funding, the Foundation has continued its “Take the CFSD Challenge” campaign to save teacher positions. The Foundation’s campaign goal is $500,000 and to-date over $250,000 has been raised. The funding will be used to maintain current teacher-student ratios, a key factor in a quality education for students.
Other new board members include Silvia Buchanan, Victoria Capin, Evan Manning, Edmund Marquez, Wendy Marquez, Lisa Millerd, Nanette Pageau and Laura Shaw.
